Road Traffic Law Costs

WE’RE HERE TO HELP YOU

Our Pricing Information

At our firm, our pricing consists of two main components: our fees for the legal work and what we refer to as 'disbursements.' Disbursements cover expenses related to your case that are payable to third parties, such as barrister's fees. To streamline the process, we often handle the payment of these disbursements on your behalf.

Please note that where VAT (Value Added Tax) is mentioned below, it will be charged at the prevailing rate, which is currently set at 20%.

Cost Range:

Just as there are different types of driving offences, our fees vary based on the complexity of your case. For straightforward cases involving a single hearing, such as guilty pleas, our fees typically range from £1,000 to £2,500. This cost typically covers routine communication with you, reviewing prosecution evidence, advising on the strength of the evidence, plea negotiations, taking your instructions, and representing you at a single hearing. Usually, such cases conclude on the same day as the initial hearing.

For more intricate or protracted cases that proceed to trial or involve multiple hearings, the costs can vary significantly. We can provide a more accurate estimate once we have all the necessary details about the specific charge, the nature and volume of evidence, your intended plea, and the circumstances surrounding the allegation. We can also discuss the expected time frame once we have more information about your case.

The Road Traffic law Department is headed by the Principal Solicitor, Mr Obi Nwokeji who conducts and supervises the work carried out in this area of law

Key Stages of Your Case

The costs mentioned above encompass all work related to key stages of Magistrates court traffic cases, including:

- Discussing your circumstances and options throughout the process

- Providing guidance on the requirements of relevant traffic laws and court procedures

- Addressing any criteria that need to be met

- Reviewing the evidence you provide

- Offering advice on potential sentences

- Representing you in court and discussing the outcome

- Additional costs for appeal advice, if needed

Case Duration

Regrettably, we cannot provide a precise timeframe for when your hearing will occur, as it depends on the court's scheduling for that day.

Disbursements:

If you require a barrister to represent you in court, their fees will be in addition to our charges. We will inform you in advance about the anticipated barrister fees, which typically range from £500 to £5,000 plus VAT, depending on the complexity and seniority of the barrister.

In certain situations, we may need to engage an expert witness, and their fees will be separate from our charges as well. These expert witness fees generally range from £1,000 to £4,000 plus VAT.

You may also incur additional costs for services provided by external organisations on your behalf, such as interpreter/translation expenses, travel costs outside our office, and courier fees. The necessity for such disbursements will be determined by the specifics of your case.

Value Added Tax (VAT):

Please note that Value Added Tax (VAT) will be added to our fees and any applicable disbursements, unless you are exempt from VAT.
