Disbursements

Disbursements are expenses that the firm covers on your behalf for out-of-pocket costs you'd typically have to pay if you were handling the matter independently. Since we handle these expenses for you, we will request reimbursement by adding these charges to your account.

Disbursements may encompass the following:

  • Court fees [e.g Divorce petition fee is £593]
  • Process server fees (for serving documents or filing materials with the court)
  • Courier charges
  • Travel expenses related to attending off-site settlement meetings, including parking and mileage
  • Fees from third-party service providers we've engaged to assist you (e.g., pension valuations, real estate appraisals, business valuations, income tax experts, etc.)
  • Any other expenses incurred by our firm on your behalf.

It's worth noting that we do not bill clients for routine photocopies, fax transmissions, software usage, or long-distance phone calls. We believe these costs should be considered part of our standard business operations.
DEFENDING THE DIVORCE PETITION

If your case is defended (contested) or the matter is not covered by our fixed fee services, you will have the option to instruct one of our lawyers under our hourly rates that range from £180 to £250 plus VAT depending on the legal qualifications, experience and expertise of the person dealing with your case

During the initial consultation or any subsequent meetings, we can advise you about your options including moving to the hourly rates or providing fixed fee quotes for specific items of work.
